Fifty Two on Friday | St. Louis Missouri Photographer | Sara Tegman | Love//02.11.11

Love is everywhere. All around us. Be loving and love will come to you. I have love and give love every day to my husband, children, sister, nieces and nephews, parents and all my family and friends. I work harder at giving love the older I get. I have grown as a person by learning about love, how to give love and how to receive love. Often times I hear new parents say “you never know the strength of love til you have your children”. It is true. I have recently had a few newborns sessions in a very short period of time. I am forever changed when I see and experience just a small amount of time with a newborn and their new families. I am so grateful to be a witness of one of the most powerful emotions we experience. It is all about love.

Sneak Peek | Baby R | University City, Missouri | Sara Tegman Photography//02.08.11

Newborns! It is snowing babies over here! I love these squishy little newbies! They are so beautiful and new. They are still getting used to being in this new world. This session was after another snowfall here in St. Louis. I am not so sure I would have made it to Baby R’s new home, if I did not have 4WD. She is just as sweet as these images. I absolutely adored the mom and dad. They went to school in my home state, UW-Madison grads. It was great to talk about Mad-town. I miss my home state and love reminiscing any chance I get. These two new parents were so adoring and doting. Baby R could not have had two people more attentive to her every need.

20 on Tuesday | an interview | Sara Tegman Photography//01.31.11

I am so lucky to have found a great network of women in my courses, forums and workshops. Notably, the women I have met and kept close with are from the Bloom Workshop. You can check out the Bloom Workshop and The Bloom Forum from their links. One the most caring, loving and talented of the bunch is Wendy Vonsosen based in Danville, CA. She loves to interview fellow photographers every Tuesday. She has interviewed some talented photographers, that I also love and follow. I am humbled and grateful to be among her interviewees this week. If you have a moment, check out Wendy’s interview of me here.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Fifty two on Friday | St. Louis, Missouri | Sara Tegman Photography | Joy//01.21.11

Joy

by definition is the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of processing what one desires.

I love this theme. Joy is all around us these days. The joy we have found has come in the simplest of forms, enjoying my time with my kids, and doing what makes them happy. This day we were snowed in and my youngest finds the most joy in taking a bath “with bubbles”. We had a great time hanging out and I was just taking in her love and warmth. She played with her barbies, sang, washed their hair, washed her hair, looked at her wrinkly hands and feet, giggled, told me a joke, turned on the jets, watched the bubbles grow, asked for warmer water, tested her underwater holding her breath ability, wiped all the bubbles from her face, asked to bake cookies, asked for clean pajamas when she got out, made a stink about combing her snarly hair, talked about school tomorrow, washed off all the bubbles, got dressed and promptly fell asleep. I feel like I am witnessing an Olivia episode. WHEW! The joy we have found these days has come in the simplest of forms……

Fifty two on Friday | St. Louis, Missouri | Sara Tegman Photography//01.14.11

This is our second of 50 more posts with our 52 on Friday project. Last weeks post for this project can be found here.
Me and a group of 19 other photographers have joined together to challenge each other on a theme every week. Our posts are designed sort of like a progressive dinner. Every post will list a link to another photographer’s blog every week, so you can see everyone’s interpretation. Hopefully you will be able to pick up cool tips, tricks and learn from our incredibly talented group of women. This week’s theme is black and white.

Black and white conversions in digital photography have several methods. One is setting your digital camera to only take a black and white photo via an on-camera filter, or another is via a post processing editing method using photoshop or other editing software. These methods could include channel mixer, lab color method, gradient map or desaturation.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the theme black and white, was not just the conversion of my images to black and white, but the most classic object that already are black and white, piano keys. Piano keys are glorious and the music, exquisite. I love to hear someone play the piano. I have a very close dear friend who also happened to be a roommate all through college and played the baby grand in our living room almost every day. I loved that she still plays and just bought her kids a piano so they could learn. So, Meg….this ones for you xoxo love you more.

The Best of 2010 | St. Louis, Missouri | Sara Tegman Photography//01.11.11

What to do on this snowy, beautiful winter day? Write, dream, share, love. There is nothing better than a cup of joe and some time to think, to be with my family and to reflect on the past year. I am so grateful for this amazing life. I get to do what I love: capture the most amazing people! My clients are loving, hard-working and just plain ole fun. I relish every moment I am invited to spend time capturing them. I want my clients to see themselves as I see them through the lens of my camera: Modern. Beautiful. Vibrant. Emotive. Fun. I would love to share some of my favorites from this year. I am so excited what this new year will bring us! I look forward to another successful year with my most amazing clients!
Cheers,
Sara

52 on Friday | St. Louis, Missouri | Sara Tegman Photography//01.07.11

I am so excited to tell you about my 52 week project that I am taking part in this year. 18 other photographers and I are doing our project together so you are in for a big treat. We have a list of 52 “ideas or themes” we have to shoot each week for the year. I will take a picture of our theme for the week, the way I interpret it, and post it on my site. Then under my post, I will link another photographer who is part of the project for you to see her interpretation of the theme. After you see hers, you will notice a different link under her picture that will then take you to the next photographer’s website. If you continue to click on the link under each picture, in the end you should see 18 other pictures and eventually make it back to my site. When I say there is some AMAZING talent in this group, I am not lying, you will definitely want to check out everyone’s pictures!

This week’s assignment was a self portrait. These self portrait pictures will allow you to see the photographers who are doing this project and put a face to a name. Self portraits are definitely not most people’s favorite thing to do, but it forces us to be on the other side of the camera and remind ourselves what our clients go through! Be sure to check out all the links, you won’t be disappointed!

Now head over to the fabulously talented Shannon Harrison’s Jack and Ruby Studios | Temecula, California modern lifestyle photographer.

Baby L | St. Louis, Missouri | Sara Tegman Photography//12.21.10

I am behind on my blog these days. I have had a very successful holiday season with many incredible clients. I will post about the holiday season, but in the meantime, I bring you Baby L.

Baby L is such happy and handsome little guy. He has big brown eyes that will melt your heart. I love new parents and new babies. Just being around them reminds you of the new-ness. New parents, new relationship, new life, new family and a new baby. The new-ness brings out such precious emotion, total adoration and love for each other.

The K Family | Sara Tegman Photography//10.15.10

Did I mention how much fun I had in Denver? This family was an absolute hoot. The mom is a natural born stylist and designer. She and I had a ball mapping out “the shoot”. There are tons of beautiful textures and colors in Denver, not to mention a fantastic mountain range as a backdrop. I absolutely adored this mom of three. She is fun and beautiful and her children adore her. It was such an honor to be a part of their lives, even if for one afternoon.

Little Man | Sara Tegman Photography | Webster Groves, MO |//07.30.10

Baby L just turned 4 months! It is funny how time passes and we think it just stands still. I did mom’s maternity, newborn and now the little guy is a little man at the ripe ‘ole age of 4 months! We were having so much trying to get him to smile and coo for us. He is so sweet and easy-going, just like his mom.

Cool! Mr. Hand

Ahem, excuse me while I straighten my tie.
