St Louis Photographer | 10 on 10 photo | Sara Tegman Photography//10.10.11

Its a Monday, also the 10th of October. So we thought it was the perfect time to share with you are beloved group and project called “10 on 10″. This started by a friend of mine, Shannon Harrison of Jack and Ruby Studios out of Temecula, California. This project was started out of a conversation I had with her about the book, “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin, a New York Times Bestseller. The premise in Gretchen’s book is to develop skills that change your life and ultimately make yourself happier. I am normally not an unhappy person, so the book and title seemed odd at first. Just like someone who doesn’t know me or who has never met me already assumed and is telling me that I was an unhappy person, boy don’t I sound like a pessimist, HA!. The Happiness Project is nothing like that. In fact, Gretchen Rubin mentions that she, herself, wasn’t at all an unhappy person, but that she felt that she could be happier and that she was going to write a book on “how to” become a happier person in one year. One of my favorite things about this book is that it is self-fulfilling, but doesn’t fall short of helping us all to understand that self-fulfillment is not to be mistaken for being self-centered. That because we can “dig deep” and understand what things in life make us our happiest will inherently bring happiness to all aspect of our lives. Our happiness only creates and begets happiness in our lives.

Here’s to our little “Happiness Project” called “10 on 10″. This is just me, being me on a busy Saturday with my favorite people. It is a lifestyle project in which I share ten images of one day in my life with you on the 10th of every month. This is my happy, my passion and my love for photography and my subjects. If you would like to indulge me on my past few months of 10 on 10. July, August and September.

Laughter | Chesterfield Missouri Kid Photo | Fifty-Two on Friday//09.09.11

This beautiful little one needed some headshots for the beginning of her super modeling career. I am more of a lifestyle photographer, but it is always good to changes things up, especially for headshots. She was a hoot. The mom was trying to help me get her loosened up by telling knock knock jokes. She was letting out the cutest belly laughs. I love these images of the truest form of happiness, laughter and love. She was so much fun.

Please click through our little barrel of laughter this week, next stop Wendy VonSosen Bay Area Photographer.

Fifty Two on Friday | St. Louis, Missouri | Sara Tegman | Children//05.06.11

This weeks theme is Children. Since we are almost on the eve of celebrating Mother’s Day, the theme is perfect for this week. I have close photographer friends here in town who often need their own shoots and since they are always behind the camera, they rarely get their own images of them with their children. I love shooting in Forest Park. Spring in Forest Park is one the most special times, everything is in bloom and new. This mom just had her 3rd little one. Baby J is 3 months, mom wanted a “mommy and me” session. J was such a trooper. I especially love these images of my dear friend with her 3rd little nugget.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Breeze Floyd, a photographer out of Connecticut, will no doubt have a beautiful image of children, please click on her name to check out her post.

Fifty Two on Friday | St. Louis, Missouri | Sara Tegman Photography | Pink//04.08.11

Welcome to my Fifty Two week project. Me and nineteen other photographers have embarked on a weekly project interpreting a different theme each week. Every one of our blogs are linked to each others and you can begin and end anywhere you wish. Here is the link to my last couple weeks of themes: Friendship, Eyes, Alone, and Family.

Pink is one of those colors that is soft, loving, caring and immediately makes me feel happy. Pink is a mix of red and white. In photography language and all art, red is one of those rich, traditional, vibrant and strong colors that is used to draw the eye in, it denotes danger in life, promotes courage, the color red is aggressive, and often it is a sign of passionate love.

White is neutral and soft and void of all color. When white is added to red to make pink; the most perfect soothing, calming effect ensues for me. This is an image of my daughter at the beach in Mexico this past spring break. I love the soothing sweetness pink color of her suit, the pink of her skin and soothing warm, happy effect of her surroundings. She is happy, loving the beach and carefree.

Fifty Two on Friday | Sara Tegman Photography | Friendship//04.01.11

One of the most treasured friendships, is a boy and his dog. Have you ever seen or read the book My Dog Skip? It is about this little boy who grows up in rural Mississippi in the 1940′s with his dog, a Jack Russell Terrier, named Skip. The entire movie is about bravery, love, friendship and devotion. The entire town falls in love with this dog. He is the hero. The little boy, Willie Morris, learns everything he needs to learn about friendship in his life wrapped up in this one relationship with his dog. It is heart-warming and beautiful and one of my all-time favorites. It reminds me of my nephew with his pups, Rommie and Cosmo, and Drew is just about Willie’s age in My Dog Skip. My ode to friendship.

Please check out my friend, Melanie Pitcher, a Memphis, Tennessee Photographer to see her interpretation of friendship.

Innocence | Fifty Two on Friday | Sara Tegman Photographer | St. Louis, Missouri//02.18.11

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving comments! I love that you are taking the time to come here and take this journey with me! Here are some of my past weeks themes below.  Click on the links and you can follow each weeks tour of my interpretation of the theme along with clicking through to 19 other photographers and their interpretation of the theme each week.

Self Portrait
Black and White
Joy
Simple
Shoes
Love

This weeks theme is Innocence.  I really struggled with this one.  I was going to just add some more newborns or children as they are both the epitome of innocence.  My innocence is more of a reminder of how precious life is.  A bird’s nest with eggs during the thaw of winter into spring.  The snow representing the cold, but also white representing innocence as a color.  The eggs, innocence of a new life about to be hatched.

Please join me in celebrating nineteen other photographers and their journeys with this awesome Fifty Two week project. Please check out this amazing and very talented photographer, Kara Jo in Memphis Tennessee.
