Fifty Two on Friday | Sara Tegman Photography | Friendship//04.01.11

One of the most treasured friendships, is a boy and his dog. Have you ever seen or read the book My Dog Skip? It is about this little boy who grows up in rural Mississippi in the 1940′s with his dog, a Jack Russell Terrier, named Skip. The entire movie is about bravery, love, friendship and devotion. The entire town falls in love with this dog. He is the hero. The little boy, Willie Morris, learns everything he needs to learn about friendship in his life wrapped up in this one relationship with his dog. It is heart-warming and beautiful and one of my all-time favorites. It reminds me of my nephew with his pups, Rommie and Cosmo, and Drew is just about Willie’s age in My Dog Skip. My ode to friendship.

Please check out my friend, Melanie Pitcher, a Memphis, Tennessee Photographer to see her interpretation of friendship.
