Newborn Photography | Sara Tegman Photographer | St. Louis, Missouri//05.24.10

Meeting a new mom and her newborn is one of the best parts of being a photographer. They graciously accept me into their homes, offer me a drink or a nosh or two, politely let me take over rooms and rearrange their living spaces. This mom is no exception. She is gracious and kind. She is one of the most patient and loving moms I have ever met. She has two of the most beautiful daughters. Best of all, she makes me feel like one of the most important people and greatest photographers. This day, their new baby girl just turned five days old and it was such an honor to meet her and let me capture their new family.

Shazam! | Sara Tegman Photography | Brookfield, Wisconsin//05.15.10

Anyone remember Captain Marvel and Shazam! It was a comic book that later became a tv-cartoon character me and my brother watched every Saturday morning. The magic word “Shazam” brought the wizard to life via a lighting bolt as the hero who brought justice to all! It reminds me of this keen little guy who is full of life and love and he is quick and changes in an instant. It is his birthday. His mom wanted a “quick portrait” session. The session lasted no more than 5 minutes. This little guy is fast moving, quicker than quick, aka never sits still. It is amazing how love can grow in that short five minutes. It is amazing how looking through the eye of a lens changes your perception of those portraits you are taking. As a photographer, it reminds me to be as quick as a lighting bolt once that magic word is spoken. Shazam! My sweet nephew, I love you.
